209 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline the number of farmers in arrears with the Land Commission; whether he has plans to ease the repayments for farmers who cannot now meet their annuities; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

At 31 August 1991, the latest date for which figures are available, 14,334 farmers were in arrears with their repayments to the Land Commission.

I am having this whole area examined with a view to finding a solution to the problem.
