Vol. 411 No. 1

Written Answers. - Milk Quota.

Michael Noonan

Question:

211 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a milk quota has not been allocated to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

I understand that the producer concerned has an existing quota of 26,500 gallons. He applied for an additional quota allocation from the national reserve which was set up for producers whose deliveries in 1983 were affected by certain animal diseases. However, as the animal disease involved in this case was not included in the list of those eligible for a quota allocation from the reserve, my Department had no option but to reject his application.

Question:

212 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a milk quota has not been allocated to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

Under the milk quota regulations quotas are generally attached to the land on which the milk was produced. Consequently as no milk was produced on the holding of the person indicated, during the quota reference year of 1983, no quota attaches to that land and he was not therefore entitled to a basic quota allocation.
