Vol. 411 No. 1

Written Answers. - Disadvantaged Areas Scheme.

Liam Aylward

Question:

247 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a townland (details supplied) in County Kilkenny is included in the extension to the reclassification of the disadvantaged areas scheme.

The townland of Coolroe in the district electoral division of Graiguenamagh has now been given less severely handicapped areas status as part of the recent reclassification agreed by the EC Commission. Previously, the mountain sheep grazing areas in that townland were classified as disadvantaged for sheep and goat headage purposes only. The revised classification will entitle farmers in these areas to additional benefits in the form of headage payments on beef cows and horses.
