Vol. 411 No. 1

Written Answers. - Submission of Annual Reports.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

359 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will outline in respect of each semi-State or other body submitting an annual report to his Department, the date on which the 1990 annual report was (a) received by him, (b) laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas and (c) circulated to Members where applicable.

There are two statutory bodies under the aegis of my Department, the Combat Poverty Agency and the National Pensions Board.

Section 11 of the Combat Poverty Agency Act, 1986 requires that the agency submit an annual report of their proceedings in the previous financial year to the Minister for Social Welfare and that such reports be laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas. I received the agency's 1990 annual report on 22 July 1991 and this was laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas on 25 July 1991.
The National Pensions Board was established in January 1991 and the first report of that body will be submitted to me, as required under the Pensions Act, in 1992.
