Vol. 411 No. 1

Written Answers. - Naas (Kildare) Hospital.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

577 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health if he will confirm that the proposed re-organisation of the Eastern Health Board will not in any way affect the schedule of the remaining stages in the Naas hospital development programme; if he will further confirm his intention to proceed with the remaining stages in the near future; if he will outline the up-to-date time-scale for the provision of these facilities; whether the necessary funds are available now or in 1992 for this project; if he will ensure that there is no deviation from the already agreed proposals in relation to this issue; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The capital allocation available to my Department for 1991 did not allow for the commencement of the second phase of the development plan for Naas General Hospital. I am, of course, committed to the orderly development of the hospital to meet identified service needs. I will be considering the time-scale for proceeding to the next phase of this development in the context of the capital resources available to my Department in 1992 and subsequent years.
