Question:638 Mrs. Taylor-Quinn asked the Minister for Education if she intends to appoint an extra teacher to a school (details supplied) in County Clare.

As you will be aware the staffing of a national school for a particular year is determined by the enrolment on 30 September of the previous year. This is in accordance with the agreement reached between the Government and the INTO.
The authorised staffing for Tulla Convent national school for the 1991-92 school year warranted by the enrolment on 30 September 1990 is principal plus two assistants.
The school is not in breach of the guidelines on maximum class sizes laid down by my Department.
