Vol. 411 No. 1

Written Answers. - Higher Education Grant Applications.

Ivan Yates

Question:

691 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Education if a full higher education grant will be approved for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford attending University of Limerick; and if she will review the regulations in relation to such persons whose parents are in receipt of social welfare and who also have part-time employment with essential services, such as the fire brigade for their local authority.

Wexford County Council are the body statutorily entrusted with the administration of the higher education grants scheme in the candidate's area. I understand that, on the basis of established criteria for determining eligibility, the council have awarded the candidate in question a grant of half lecture fees in the 1991-92 academic year.
