Vol. 411 No. 1

Written Answers. - Oil Storage at Whiddy Terminal.

Peter Barry

Question:

62 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Energy the quantities of oil which were stored at Whiddy oil terminal on 1 December 1990 and 1 June 1991; and the market value of the oil on these dates.

The quantity of crude oil stored at Whiddy Oil Terminal on 1 December 1990 was 1,549,055 barrels. There has been no movement of stocks since that date.

Until the crude is sold, it is not possible to establish its precise value. As a guide, on 3 December 1990 the market value of oil similar to that stored at Whiddy was $30.95 a barrel. On 3 June 1991 the value was $18.87 a barrel. There was no quote available for crude similar to that stored at Whiddy on 1 December 1990 or 1 June 1991. The current price is approximately $22.92 a barrel.
