Vol. 411 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

43 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the total number of (a) special beef premia and (b) sheep premia awaiting payment in County Kildare at present; if any of those still outstanding refer to 1989 or 1990; the reason for delays; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Of the 1,381 applications for special beef premium received in Kildare in 1989, three have not yet been paid because the applicants concerned have not supplied legal documents requested as proof of ownership of their lands.

Of the 1,270 applications for special beef premium received in Kildare in 1990, 11 query cases were processed recently and will be paid shortly and 76 other cases are still under query — the other 1,183 cases have been paid. As soon as the applicants concerned supply satisfactory replies to the queries raised, the 79 outstanding 1989 and 1990 special beef premium cases will be processed for payment.

The 1991 payments under this scheme are not scheduled to start until November.

Of the 1,057 applications for ewe premium received in Kildare for 1989 and 1990 only two are unpaid at this stage. Of the 1,051 eligible applications for ewe premium received in Kildare in 1991, 1,010 have been paid, 18 more will be paid shortly and 23 are under query.
As soon as the 25 applicants under the 1989, 1990 and 1991 schemes whose claims are under query reply satisfactorily to those queries, their claims will be processed for payment.
