Vol. 411 No. 5

Written Answers. - Planning Regulations.

Austin Currie

Question:

69 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for the Environment whether consideration was given, in the course of the review of planning regulations referred to in his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 55 of 28 February 1990 to the fact that many people have no knowledge of planning applications which affect them until it is too late to do anything about it; if so, his views on the proposals of the publication by the planning authorities of the lists of planning applications on a weekly or month basis in appropriate local newspapers; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As I indicated in my reply to Question No. 55 of 28 February 1990, I am not aware of particular problems with the existing public notice requirements for planning applications. However the entire matter, including the Deputy's suggestion, is being examined in the general review of planning regulations currently in progress in my Department.
