Vol. 411 No. 7

Written Answers. - Remedial Teacher Appointment.

Austin Deasy

Question:

231 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education the steps she is taking to provide a remedial teacher in the following group of schools in the Gaultier area of East Waterford (a) Killea (boys) (b) Dunmore East (girls), (c) Crooke, (d) Passage East, (e) Faithlegge and (f) Ballygunner.

As the Deputy will be aware 80 additional remedial posts were serving over 240 schools allocated this year under arrangements under the Programme for Economic and Social Progress.

These appointments were made following the collection of data and information by my Department's primary inspectorate from schools. The posts were then allocated on the basis of priority of need, as indicated by the information collected by the Department's inspectorate.
The needs of these and other schools will be kept under review.
