Vol. 411 No. 7

Written Answers. - Diplomatic Relations with Taiwan.

Peter Barry

Question:

105 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs whether it is intended to establish diplomatic relations with Taiwan.

Ireland recognises the Government of the People's Republic of China as the sole legitimate Government of China and maintains diplomatic relations with it on that basis. The establishment of diplomatic relations with Taiwan does not therefore arise.
