Vol. 411 No. 7

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Peter Barry

Question:

111 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Finance when it is proposed to move the Central Statistics Office to Cork; and whether the contract for the building will be by open advertised tender.

It is planned to move the staff of the Central Statistics Office to Cork in 1994 on the basis of the accommodation for them becoming available early that year.

Applications for provision of accommodation were invited through the national press in July 1991 from developers interested in tendering for the proposed Cork decentralised offices on a design-build-finance arrangement. A short list of developers is being drawn up from the applications, and these will be asked to submit detailed proposals. The lowest and most suitable tender from among those submitted will be selected in accordance with normal tendering practices.
