Vol. 412 No. 1

Written Answers. - Employment Support Scheme.

Richard Bruton

Question:

123 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health if he will outline (1) the number of persons who have been employed under the employment support scheme for persons with a handicap introduced under the Programme for National Recovery (2) the numbers now employed and (3) the future projections of employment under this scheme.

Since its introduction in July 1990 the employment support scheme has provided employment opportunities for 56 persons with severe disabilities. At present 50 people are employed on the scheme. The projection is that a further 20 will be employed by the end of 1991 and that an additional 100 persons with severe disabilities will be placed in employment under the scheme in 1992.
