Question:39 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for the Marine if he has any plans to develop harbours and piers which are not eligible for grant aid under the terms of the Harbours Act, 1946.
Written Answers. - Development of Harbours and Piers.
My Department are at present implementing a fishery harbour development programme which covers the years 1989-93. This programme provides for the development of the five fishery harbour centres owned by my Department, as well as a number of selected harbours most of which are owned by the local authorities.
This programme is financed by the Exchequer and attracts EC funding through the structural funds and an EC programme which finances the provision of facilities at fish landing places.
