Vol. 412 No. 5

Written Answers. - Accessibility to Government Offices.

Noel Dempsey

Question:

110 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Finance if he will outline any steps taken or about to be taken to improve accessability to Government offices for disabled persons who may be employed in the Civil Service.

In the case of all new Government offices constructed by the Office of Public Works it has been the policy to specify that the recommendations contained in the booklet, Access for the Disabled: Minimum Design Criteria, produced by the National Rehabilitation Board be followed.

In relation to older Government offices improved access for disabled employees has been provided in many cases and will continue to be provided in the remainder of such buildings as opportunities arise to do so.
