Question:104 Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if the market for the export of seed and ware potatoes has been investigated; and if, so, if he will outline the prospects for the coming season.
Written Answers. - Potato Exports.
The promotion and development of exports is the statutory responsibility of An Bord Tráchtála (ABT). Bord Glás collaborates closely with ABT in relation to the promotion and development of the export of horticultural products, including ware and seed potatoes.
There have been positive developments in relation to ware exports and these will continue to be encouraged and assisted this season. Prospects for seed appear to be similar to last year and exports are expected to be in the region of 11,000 tonnes.
