Vol. 412 No. 7

Written Answers. - Company Law.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

55 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will outline the changes, if any, required in company law to protect the interests of (1) consumers, (2) public and private companies and (3) the State; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Following the enactment of two major companies Acts in 1990, I am not aware of any fundamental lack in the framework of company law here. However, I am always prepared to bring forward further legislative proposals if that proves to be necessary.
