Vol. 413 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dublin School Improvement Works.

Richard Bruton

Question:

164 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education if he will outline the progress which has been made within his Department on the application for improvement works to the St. Vincent de Paul senior and junior schools, Griffith Avenue, Dublin 9; and when he expects to be in a position to sanction the works applied for, particularly the urgently needed burglar alarm, as the school has suffered four recent break-ins.

I am at present awaiting a report from my Department's professional staff regarding the improvement requested including the provision of a burglar alarm at the St. Vincent de Paul national school, Griffith Avenue, Dublin 9. When this report has been received and examined a decision on grant-aid will be promptly conveyed to the school authorities.

I fully accept that the provision of a burglar alarm is an urgent matter and a decision will be taken in this regard at an early date.
