Vol. 413 No. 1

Written Answers. - Farm Electrification Grants Scheme.

Michael Creed

Question:

96 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Energy if a grant for the installation of electricity will be approved for a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The farm electrification grants scheme was designed to increase farm output in the disadvantaged areas of the country by subsidising the installation of electricity to farms which previously had no supply or whose existing supply was inadequate.

In order to qualify for grant-aid under the scheme, agriculture must be the applicants' main occupation and principal source of income. As the person in question has no land I regret to say that he is not eligible for grant-aid under the scheme.
