Vol. 413 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospital Orderly Allowance.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

118 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Justice if he will give details of the present rates of allowance payable by his Department under the provisions of the Coroner's Act, 1962, to hospital orderlies assisting at post mortems in (a) State cases and (b) where the corpse is decomposed; and when these allowances were last increased by his Department.

The Coroners Act, 1962 (Fees and Expenses) Regulations, 1990 (S.I. No. 19 of 1990) provide that, since 1 February 1990, the fee payable to a lay person for assisting at a post-mortem examination is £9.69.
