Vol. 413 No. 3

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to me under Standing Order 20 (3) (a) and the name of the Member in each case: Deputy Mervyn Taylor, The difficulties for young people under 25 years in obtaining motor insurance cover; Deputy Seán Ryan, The proposed disposal of land at the Teagasc Centre, Kinsealy, and the effect that this will have on the research centre, employment and the horticultural industry in general; Deputy Pat McCartan, The implications for Government broadcasting policy of the sudden closure of the national independent broadcasting service, Century Radio; Deputy Pat Rabbitte, The implications of the recent finding of the Labour Relations Commission for the re-entry of women into the Civil Service; Deputy Proinsias De Rossa, The confusion which has arisen at the Beef Industry Tribunal regarding what legal team represents the public interest and the need for the Attorney General to clarify the matter; Deputy Roger Garland, The failure by the Minister for the Environment to fix the rate support grant for 1992, the absence of which will make it impossible for Dublin City Council to adopt the estimates next Monday; Deputy Bernard Allen, The jailing of debtors for being in default of sureties and the power of the courts to jail people who fail to pay debts to banks and other financial institutions and the implications of this situation for the prison system.

I have selected for discussion the matters raised by the following Deputies: Deputy Seán Ryan, Deputy Mervyn Taylor and Deputy Roger Garland.
