Vol. 413 No. 3

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Arrears.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

20 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Social Welfare if, arising from the replies to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 90 to 94 of 5 November 1991, he will outline (a) when satisfactory arrangements were made for the clearance of arrears and (b) the number of postdated cheques which have become due and the dates of their cheques; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My predecessor gave a comprehensive written reply on this issue to Deputy Gilmore on 5 November 1991.

Satisfactory arrangements for the clearance of PRSI arrears were made on 15 August 1991. A total of 11 post-dated monthly cheques were submitted. Of these three cheques have fallen due and have been honoured on 15 September, 15 October and 15 November respectively. All remaining cheques will have fallen due by July 1992.
