Question:

120 Tómas Mac Giolla asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will outline the increases there have been for each year of the existence of the part-time job incentive scheme for (a) single persons and (b) married persons with an adult dependant.

121 Tomás Mac Giolla asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he has any plans to increase the allowance to (1) single persons and (2) those with an adult dependant under the part-time job incentive scheme.

122 Tomás Mac Giolla asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will outline the number of people who have availed of the part-time job incentive scheme in each of the following years (1) 1988 (2) 1989 (3) 1990 who are (a) single persons (b) married with adult dependant (c) who are-were on long term rate of unemployment assistance and (d) who are on social employment schemes.

It is proposed to take Questions Nos. 120, 121 and 122 together. The weekly allowances payable in respect of the part time job incentive scheme since its inception in 1986 are set out in the following table:

The allowances were last increased in July 1991 and the question of any further increase would be a matter for consideration in the context of the budget.
Average monthly take-up of the scheme during the years 1988, 1989 and 1990 by persons who were formerly in receipt of unemployment assistance at the long term rate was as follows:

It is not possible to say how many of those who availed of the scheme are now on unemployment assistance or on a social employment scheme.
