Vol. 413 No. 6

Written Answers. - Pornographic Videos.

Ivor Callely

Question:

90 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice the action he proposes to take as a result of the recent court case in relation to the renting of pornographic videos; if his attention has been drawn to the seriousness of the situation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I assume that the question refers to a recent case where certain video recordings had been seized by the Garda in April last on foot of a search warrant issued under the Copyright Act, 1963.

In July last I made an order under the Video Recordings Act, 1989, which enables the film censor to prohibit the supply of pornographic videos.
