Vol. 413 No. 7

Written Answers. - Health Boards Funding.

Michael Ferris

Question:

76 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Health if she has now received proposals from each health board outlining their proposals to cut back services further in order to meet the directive from her Department that no further funding will be made in 1991 to maintain services at 1990 levels; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The funds which have been made available to health boards in respect of 1991 are sufficient to maintain services at the levels approved in respect of 1990. Despite this, certain boards are having to take corrective action in order to ensure that their overall expenditure will not exceed their revised allocations. It is a matter for each such board to determine the action which it should take in order to achieve this objective.
