Vol. 413 No. 7

Written Answers. - Kildare School Past Pupil Union.

Alan M. Dukes

Question:

124 Mr. Dukes asked the Minister for Education the reason outstanding moneys due to the past pupil union of St. Joseph's Academy in Kildare have not yet been paid, notwithstanding an undertaking given by his predecessor in June, 1990 and repeated by her in Dáil Éireann on Thursday, 23 May 1991.

As indicated to the Deputy previously, additional details were requested so my Department could re-examine their assessment of the building grant payable to St. Joseph's Academy. However, the information supplied since has not substantiated the final account figures on which the school's claim for a further grant payment is based. Accordingly, in the absence of the information required to validate an adjustment of costs for grant purposes the Department are not in a position to issue a further grant payment in respect of the project.
