Vol. 413 No. 9

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

Bernard Allen

Question:

206 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for the Environment if favourable consideration will be given to the award of a grant from the proceeds of the national lottery to Edel House, Cork, in view of (1) the vital role it is playing in dealing with families in crisis, (2) the pressures being put on Edel House because of the housing crisis at the present time and (3) the lack of readily available houses from Cork Corporation.

The funds available from the national lottery relating to voluntary housing are confined to assistance towards the installation of communal facilities for residents in new or existing housing projects managed by certain approved voluntary/non-profit bodies. I understand from Cork Corporation who administer the scheme in the area that an application for such assistance has not been received in this case.
