Vol. 413 No. 9

Written Answers. - Anaesthetist Applicants.

James Leonard

Question:

237 Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for Health the number of applicants for the post of anaesthetist who have been unsuccessful in each of the health board areas during 1991.

Anaesthetists for health board hospitals are recruited by the Local Appointments Commission. The commission have furnished the following figures in respect of competitions held in 1991: nett candidature, 20; number interviewed, 18; number considered for appointment, 8.

Voluntary hospitals are responsible for their own recruitment of staff. I do not have the information requested by the Deputy in respect of them.
