Vol. 413 No. 9

Written Answers. - Closure of Phoenix Park Entrance.

Austin Currie

Question:

132 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Finance the reasons the White's Gate entrance to the Phoenix Park has been closed from July 1991; if his attention has been drawn to the inconvenience caused by the closure; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

White's Gate was closed in pursuance of the objectives of the Commissioners of Public Works as set out in the management plan for the national historic park which was launched in 1986. While the closure may cause minor inconvenience to a small number of motorists, the general reaction of the public has been favourable. I am arranging to have a copy of the management plan issued to the Deputy.
