Written Answers. - Accidents Involving Cyclists.

Question:

53 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline (1) the number of accidents involving cyclists on our roads in the past four years, (2) the number in which no third party was involved, (3) the age groups of those involved, (4) the number of such accidents which were fatal and (5) the nature of injuries sustained; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

All available information on road accidents on Irish roads is contained in the Environmental Research Unit's annual report, "Road Accident Facts Ireland". Copies of the reports covering the years 1987 to 1990 are in the Oireachtas Library.
