Vol. 414 No. 2

Written Answers. - County Kildare Cable T.V.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

62 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if cable TV service is available throughout all of the towns and villages in County Kildare not served by MMDS; if there are any exceptions; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Cable TV service is available in the following towns in County Kildare: Naas, Newbridge, Kildare, Athy, Celbridge, Clane and Maynooth.

An MMDS operator is licensed to provide MMDS service to areas in County Kildare not served by cable. The operator is required to make every reasonable effort to provide service to all within his franchise. Where appropriate, the MMDS operator may choose to provide service via cable from an MMDS feed in more densely populated areas such as towns and villages which are not within a cable franchise.
