Written Answers. - Urban Renewal Scheme.

Question:

202 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline (1) the cities or towns throughout the country which have so far benefited from the urban renewal scheme and (2) the value of the investments involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Under the urban renewal scheme, areas have been designated for urban renewal purposes in the following locations; Cork, Dublin, Galway, Limerick, Waterford, Athlone, Ballina, Bray, Carlow, Castlebar, Clonmel, Drogheda, Dundalk, Ennis, Kilkeny, Letterkenny, Longford, Portlaoise, Sligo, Tallaght, Tralee, Tullamore and Wexford.

The latest information available indicates that projects with an estimated value of £331.1 million have either been completed or are in progress. In addition, projects with an estimated value of some £296.5 million are in planning.
