74 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will ensure that a company (details supplied) in County Cork complies with the international electrotechnical commission standards for household electrical goods regarding the use of factory fitted plugs on all electrical goods.

The relevant International Electrotechnical Commission standards referred to by the Deputy are not mandatory in this country. In this context, however, I am arranging to have a review of the position undertaken with the objective of improving safety in this area.
