Question:115 Mr. Hilliard asked the Taoiseach if he will outline the reason for the 31 per cent increase in expenditure under Vote 4, subhead A1, under the Central Statistics Office in the Estimates for the Public Services 1992.

Subhead A1 of Vote 4 covers the costs of salaries, wages and allowances for headquarters staff of the Central Statistics Office. The increase referred to is mainly due to additional costs of headquarters staff in 1992 in connection with the processing of the 1991 Census of Population and Census of Agriculture.
