Written Answers. - Interdepartmental Committee on Crime.

Question:

35 Tomás Mac Giolla asked the Minister for Justice if, in regard to his statement made to the Dáil on 26 November 1991, regarding the establishment of an interdepartmental committee to draft a comprehensive response to the problems of crime and vandalism in urban areas, he will outline (1) the number of occasions on which the committee has met and (2) if it has produced any report or interim findings; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Justice (Mr. Burke)

The Committee in question has met on three occasions since my announcement of its establishment. Several additional subcommittee meetings have also taken place with interested parties. The committee has not yet produced a report or interim findings.
