Vol. 415 No. 4

Written Answers. - Tax Refunds.

Liam Aylward

Question:

79 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Finance if he will arrange early payment of a refund of income tax to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny which is due for some time now.

The inspector of taxes requires certain information from the taxpayer's employer before he can finalise the liability. This was originally requested on 1 July 1991 and an undertaking has now been given that the information will be made available. In the meantime the inspector is making an interim refund of £135 and the matter will be reviewed when the outstanding information is available.

Michael Creed

Question:

80 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Finance the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork is being refused every refund of VAT.

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that they have received one application for a refund of VAT from the person concerned, on 23 October 1991.

The person concerned was informed on 5 December 1991 of the option of setting off the refund due to him against his other tax liabilities. On receipt of a response from him, the Revenue Commissioners will finalise his repayment.
