Tom Enright

Question:

112 Mr. Enright asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will expedite payment of a suckler cow grant due to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly; if he will outline the progress made to date in regard to this application; and when payment will be made.

This applicant has already been paid his grants under the 1991 beef cow and equines headage and suckler cow premium schemes. His application under the 1991 special beef premium scheme is being processed at present and if found in order payment will be made shortly.

113 Mr. Enright asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will expedite payment of a headage and a suckler cow grant due to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly; if he will outline the progress made to date in regard to this application; and when payment will be made.

This applicant has been paid his grant under the 1991 sheep headage scheme already. Payment due to him under the 1991 cattle and equines headage scheme is being processed and will issue shortly.

Grants due to him under the 1991 ewe permium and suckler cow premium schemes are being withheld to offset arears of annuity owed to the Land Commission.

The grant due to this person under the 1991 special beef premium, scheme is being withheld to offset arrears of annuity owed to the Land Commission.

Payment to this applicant under the 1991 cattle and equines headage scheme has been made already.

His applications under the 1991 suckler cow premium and special beef premium schemes are being procesed and if found in order payments will issue shortly.

Question:

116 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when an additional beef premium payment will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The person named applied for premium on four animals under the 1991 special beef premium scheme, two of which were untagged. Since it was a condition of the scheme that animals be tagged at the time of application, only the two tagged animals were considered eligible for grants. Payment cannot be made under the 1991 scheme in respect of the two untagged animals but those two animals may be the subject of an application in the future.

117 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will reconsider a decision to refuse a ewe premium to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The person named does not qualify for 1991 ewe premium because he failed to notify the Department in writing of the loss of 17 ewes from his flock within ten days of discovery of that loss as required under the EC regulation governing the scheme. As the number of sheep not notified in writing exceeded 10 per cent of the number he applied for, he does not qualify for any payment.

118 Mr. Enright asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will expedite payment of a sheep subsidy and suckler cow grant due to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly; if he will outline the progress made to date in regard to this application; and when payment will be made.

The first and second instalments of the 1991 ewe premium were paid to the person named on 28 January 1992. The third and final instalment will be paid in March-April 1992 when the EC Commission fixes the level of that instalment. He does not qualify for payment under the 1991 sheep headage scheme because the sheep presented at inspection were of a type not eligible for payment under this scheme.

Payment due to him under the 1991 suckler cow premium scheme is being processed and will issue shortly.

Payments due to this applicant under the 1991 beef cow and suckler cow premium schemes are being processed and will issue shortly. He did not apply for grants under the 1991 special beef premium scheme.

Only one of the persons named is the registered owner of the herd-number quoted and that person's 1991 special beef premium and suckler cow schemes grants are being processed and if found in order payment will issue shortly.
