149 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of the number of outdoor staff who were employed in all local authority areas for each of the years 1980 to date; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The returns of staff submitted by local authorities to my Department do not provide a breakdown showing the number of outdoor staff employed. However, based on these returns, the total number of local authority staff in non-officer grades, who would for the most part be outdoor staff, is set out in the following table. These figures refer to the position at 31 December of each year.
