Question:30 Mr. Belton asked the Minister for Energy if he will outline the up-to-date situation with regard to the application of a person (details supplied) in County Longford for a forestry grant.
Written Answers. - Forestry Grant Application.
While my Department have received no formal application for a grant, the person involved did apply for a pre-planting approval, which is the first step in the afforestation grant process. My Department apply certain eligibility criteria for forestry, one which is that the investment must be capable of getting a good return both for the applicant and the State. All of the lands in this case do not meet this criteria. My Department will be in touch with the person concerned in the matter shortly.
