Question:88 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Education the reason his Department refused to recognise Coláiste Pheig Sayers Teo, Coláiste Samhraidh Gaeilge, Dún Chaoin, Baile An Fheirtéirigh, Contae Chiarraí.

Coláiste Pheig Sayers in Dún Chaoin has been recognised by my Department for grant purposes, subject to the fire officers requirements being complied with in respect of the accommodation at Clochar. Proposals from the same college to establish a new Irish college in Baile an Lochaigh have not been sanctioned by my Department as the area in question is considered to be adequately served by Irish colleges already.
