Written Answers. - Sanction of School Appointments.

Question:

154 Mr. Taylor asked the Minister for Education if he will sanction the appointments of a caretaker and secretary to a school (details supplied) in County Dublin as it is in a disadvantaged area and has 692 pupils on the roll including two special classes and one class for travellers; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A phased programme agreed under the Programme for Economic and Social Progress will commence later this year to expand the provision for caretaking and clerical services to national schools with 100 pupils upwards. It is not possible to say at this stage when it may be possible for the school in question to benefit under this programme.
