Question:

124 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Finance the reason the carpet laid at the Ennis Social Welfare Office, opened in 1991, did not comply in width with the specifications set out in the tender documents; and if he will give details of (a) the supplier involved (b) the manufacturer and (c) the overall cost of the carpet supplied.

The carpet supplied and fitted for the offices in question fully complied with the widths prescribed in the relevant specifications for this project.

The firm which was awarded the contract for supply and fitting was Messrs. Michael Treacy Carpets Ltd., Bennetts-bridge, County Kilkenny, and the carpet in this case was manufactured by Navan Carpets Ltd., Navan, County Meath.

In the interest of confidentiality, the amount of the contract awarded for the project may not be revealed.
