Written Answers. - Defence Forces Language Allowances.

Question:

105 Mr. Ryan asked the Minister for Defence if he will outline (1) the amount of allowances paid to members of Na Buan-Óglaigh in respect of facilities in languages other than Irish or English, (2) the number of those currently receiving such allowances and (3) language for which the allowances are being received.

In regard to (1), £260 per annum.

In regard to (2) and (3), at present there are five officers in receipt of this allowance in respect of proficiency in the French language.
