Vol. 416 No. 2

Written Answers. - Skibbereen (Cork) Driving Test Centre.

P. J. Sheehan

Question:

172 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the fact that all driving tests arranged by his Department for the Skibbereen centre will be cancelled from 1 March 1992 owing to the introduction of the new one way traffic regulations in Skibbereen, County Cork; and if, in view of this he will give a commitment that the driving test centre will not be transferred from the town of Skibbereen and that tests will resume there immediately.

The pending changes in the traffic system in Skibbereen will require new driving test routes. Testing will be suspended for the weeks commencing 2, 9 and 16 March to allow such routes to be devised and to allow applicants to become familiar with the new traffic arrangements. Tests will be resumed with effect from the week commencing 23 March. There is no proposal to discontinue testing in Skibbereen.
