Question:

261 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education the moneys, if any, which are made available to his Department from the national lottery; the use to which these moneys are put; and the way in which the money is allocated.

A total of £30.5 million has been made available to my Department for activities funded from the national lottery in 1992. This amount is distributed over the broad headings under which national lotery funds are allocated as follows: (a) Irish Language, £1.9 million; (b) Arts and Culture, £5.2 million; (c) Youth and Sport, £23.4 million. Total £30.5 million.

Lottery funds are allocated under these headings in accordance with the terms and conditions of the various approved schemes and services operated by my Department.
