Vol. 416 No. 6

Written Answers. - Cork Hospital Services.

Bernard Allen

Question:

303 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health if he will make a statement on recent reports leaked from the Kenny commission looking at the hospital services in Cork and published in the Irish Medical Times dated 14 February, 1992 which indicates that radical restructuring of the health services in the Cork area are being proposed where the hospitals may be placed under the control of an autonomous management organisation and where these hospitals would compete with each other to sell services to the Southern Health Board.

As the working group to review acute hospital services in Cork has not yet completed its report, it would not be appropriate for me to comment at this stage.
