Vol. 416 No. 6

Written Answers. - Ophthalmic Services.

Ivor Callely

Question:

310 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Health if he will give details of the current numbers on the waiting list for eye treatment by consultant ophthalmologists; whether he recently received proposals which would have reduced the waiting list; if so, if he will outline the proposals; and whether these proposals were costed.

The validation of acute hospital waiting lists is nearing completion and I will communicate information on waiting lists for ophthalmology to the Deputy when the validation process has been finalised.

Proposals for the development of ophthalmic services have been received from a number of agencies and will be considered as sympathetically as possible in the light of available resources.
