Question:312 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the finance he proposes to allocate towards environmental research and development.
Written Answers. - Environmental Research Funding.
Under the STRIDE Operational Programme for Ireland, 1991-1993 expenditure of some £3.465 million is envisaged under the Environment sub-programme on environmental research and facilities. The activities under this sub-programme, which is being administered by my Department, are additional to the expenditure of £3.38 million provided for in my Department's Vote under the heading Research, Analytical and Related Services; he bulk of this relates to the grant to the Environmental Research Unit.
The Environment Action Programme which was published in January 1990, outlines a range of initiatives for environmental protection and infrastructural development over this decade. A first progress report on the action programme was published in July 1991.
