Vol. 416 No. 6

Written Answers. - Housing Legislation.

John V. Farrelly

Question:

314 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for the Environment when he expects to have the social housing legislation put before both Houses of the Oireachtas; when he expects that local authorities will be implementing this housing policy; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I expect to present the Housing Bill to the Dáil in the very near future. Most of the key measures in "A Plan for Social Housing" are currently being implemented by the local authorities, some of them on the basis of interim arrangements devised by my Department. I will be taking all possible steps to encourage and assist local authorities to accelerate progress under the plan during 1992.
